Welcome to New York! Our English language centre is located at LIU Brooklyn, just one subway stop from downtown Manhattan. The breath-taking iconic skyline of New York can be viewed from Brooklyn Heights and everything that the city’s got to offer is within easy reach. This is perfect for language students want to experience the “big apple” but also discover the more authentic parts of the city.

Students stay in traditional US College dormitory rooms, located in two residence buildings (Conolly Hall and Hoyt residence) located a short walk from the central LIU Brooklyn campus.

- Conolly Hall: Students stay in triple rooms with shared facilities or triple rooms with en-suite. We also offer four bed rooms (two adjoining twin rooms) with separate en-suite. 

- Hoyt residence: Quad en-suite rooms

- Room furniture includes a wardrobe, desk and chair

- All rooms have air conditioning

- Laundry available in each residence building-

- The communal facilities are cleaned daily

- All meals are served in a large self-service canteen

- Internet access via ethernet cables and Wi-Fi in common areas

 

Activities

Activities are organised in between lessons and during evenings. These activities could be on-site or near to the centre. These may include: 

- Sports such as football, mini Olympics, volleyball and basketball 

- Drama and performance activities such as scavenger hunts and drama workshops

- Evening activities such as karaoke, talent show, team games and Manhattan by night walking tours

Half-day trips

Our local half-day trips take students to places of interest such as the Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square and Central Park.

Times Squaretake in the sights and lights of this exciting crossroads with plenty of shopping opportunities

Wall Street/Financial district: explore the world famous Wall Street and Manhattan’s bustling financial district

Coney Island: the original Brooklyn beach theme park

- Taught by qualified English teachers

- 20 x 45 minute lessons per week

- Placement test on day 1 to ensure students in appropriate level
