  • Why Work with Embassy Summer?

    We offer staff the opportunity to work in close-knit teams with people from different backgrounds. Every day presents new challenges and learning opportunities, ensuring our teams remain engaged and motivated throughout the summer!

    We value all our staff and believe strongly in investing in staff training and personal and professional development.

    This year we will be further developing our teaching materials and introducing a more comprehensive training programme to all our temporary summer camp staff.

  • What is your recruitment process?
    1. You complete and submit your application form.
    2. If shortlisted, you will be invited for an online interview.
    3. Following a conditional job offer, we will commence full background checks and onboarding.
    4. Prior to commencement of employment, you will be invited to our pre-arrival induction and online training programmes accessed through our staff portal.
    5. On arrival at centre, you will be given a full centre specific induction. Our centre management teams will continue to support you with in-centre observations, throughout your contract of employment with us.
  • What documents do I need to be able to work in Malta?

    We will ask you for documentation that proves that you are legally authorised to work in Malta such as a Maltese ID card, EU ID card/passport, Family member of an EU citizen card, and so on.

  • What experience do I need to work for Embassy Summer?

    Working in a summer school is fast-paced and great fun.  Your days will be varied, and you will be required to engage with the students to ensure they have the best Embassy Summer experience possible.

    For all roles, we welcome applicants who have great communication skills, have lots of energy and enthusiasm, and possess great leadership skills.

    If this is your first summer job, you will gain some amazing life skills and will grow personally and professionally, as well as make some wonderful memories.

    If you are a teacher, you will be requested to provide a valid ELT qualification, such as CELTA and Cert.TESOL.

  • What is the typical summer contract length?

    We can offer contracts from 4-10 weeks from mid-June to the end of August depending on the centre and the role.

    We may ask staff to temporarily move to another centre to meet operational needs. This provides staff with a good opportunity to see another centre in operation. In this instance, we will reimburse the cost of transfer between centres.

  • What is the typical working week?

    The majority of the staff work 6 days per week (Monday to Sunday) - 1 day off per week.

    But some particular roles will be working between Monday and Friday.

    Activity Leaders Residential

    40 hours per week

    Activity Leaders Non-Residential

    Up to 40 hours per week

    Airport Coordinators

    Up to 40 hours er week

    Night Supervisors

    36 hours per week

    Teachers

    15 or 30 per week

    Hours will vary according to the role

     

    Residential staff will be required to carry out residential duties as part of their contracted hours.

  • We will process staff hours every month and bank accounts will be credited by the end of each month.

  • After the completion of three months of continuous service, you will be entitled to fifteen days’ sick leave on full pay and fifteen days of sick leave on half pay in every calendar year, less any sickness benefit to which you may be entitled under The National Insurance Act, provided that a medical certificate certifying incapacity to work covering the period of absence is presented to us.

  • Do I need a National Insurance number to work in Malta?

    If this is your first employment in Malta, and you are not a Maltese citizen you need to apply for the Maltese Social Security Number. Details of how to apply will be provided together with the contract if you will be successful.

    If you have already been employed in Malta, you are already in possession of your Maltese Social Security Number.

  • Can you help me with my tax queries?

    Any tax queries can be discussed with the designated person once you will be at the centre.

  • Do you cover costs for the flights?

    Embassy Summer does not cover costs for flight tickets.

  • Do you provide accommodation?

    Yes, we can offer onsite accommodation at all our centre locations, only if the role is residential.

    Accommodation is provided from the night before your first working day until the night of your last working day.

  • Where will I be accommodated?

    Staff can be accommodated either in a single room or shared room. Bathroom can be either private or shared. It depends on availability.

    We will allocate rooms to meet our student welfare guidelines and staff members will be accommodated on student floors for supervisory reasons. 

     

  • Do you provide food?

    Yes, we provide Full Board to our residential staff. Lunch consists in hot/cold meals during weekdays and packed lunches on weekends.

    Teachers are provided with food at school from Monday to Friday.

  • Do you cater for specific dietary requirements or allergies?

    We will do our best to accommodate your dietary requirements. We recommend speaking to our Embassy Summer staff on arrival.

    • All our centres provide a vegetarian option every mealtime
    • Celiac diets are commonly catered for
  • Do you provide transfer from/to the airport?

    We do not provide transfers from/to the airport. You will need to arrange your own transport to your Centre (Accommodation) either by public transport (https://www.publictransport.com.mt/en/trip-planner) or by taxi (Uber, Bolt).

  • Do I have to wear an Embassy Summer uniform?

    Staff should dress appropriately for their role. Managers and leaders will be provided with Embassy Summer t-shirts which must be worn whilst on duty together with the Embassy Staff ID Card.

    All employees are required to avoid attire with offensive or inappropriate drawings or sayings. Respecting our dress code is important as student’s security will often depends on it.

  • How much do I need to plan for my lessons?

    EC and Embassy Summer have put together its own curriculum, drawing from years of experience teaching Young Learners. This curriculum is based on the communicative approach and ensures the students take an active role in their learning. From a teacher's perspective, this also means that the teacher will be provided with a daily lesson plan, together with materials that can be taken to class. In other words, teachers will spend less time planning but may instead focus on tweaking the lesson plan so that it reflects both the needs of the students as well as the personality and teaching style of the teacher.

  • Is there Wi-Fi at the centre and at school?

    Wi-Fi is available throughout our summer school centres and school.

  • Does Embassy Summer have a staff portal?

    Yes, once onboarded, you will receive a link to access the staff portal where you will be able to view documents to support your employment and training.

  • What is Embassy Summer’s social media policy?

    We encourage the professional use of social media within restricted channels, such as building your staff professional profile and contributing to positive engagement with colleagues and following our organisational posts. 

    From a child and student protection perspective, you must not socially connect with students or via email or mobile.

  • Can I refer a friend or family member to work with Embassy Summer?

    YES, most definitely!

  • Can I bring visitors to the centre I’m working at?

    Due to our strict welfare and safeguarding policy, visitors are not permitted on site.

  • Are there laundry facilities at centre?

    Washing machines and dryers are available in each centre. You will have access to your centre guide with more details about the centre facilities on our staff portal.

  • Are towels provided to residential staff?

    Not all our summer school centres will provide towels. Please check with your Centre Manager prior to arrival. Linen will be provided.

  • Can I claim for damaged or lost personal belongings?

    Embassy Summer will not accept liability for any damage or loss to personal belongings. Please ensure your personal items, especially laptops and mobile phones are insured prior to arrival.

  • Will there be parking at my centre and school?

    Parking may not be automatically available to our summer staff.  Please discuss this with Embassy Summer staff prior to arrival.   They may be able to assist you with a parking permit if needed, but this will not be guaranteed and will be subject to availability.
