Founded over 400 years ago by the Elizabethan merchant Peter Blundell, Blundell’s School is a testament to both local culture and the importance of quality education.

Located in the town of Tiverton, in Mid Devon, the location is perfect for venturing out to explore the historical and naturally stunning range of cities and coasts the South West of England has to offer. All whilst being able to enjoy a huge range of on-site facilities and activities.

Residence building with single, twin, quad rooms or dormitory shared by six students

Bathrooms shared by up to 6 students

There are communal social spaces located within the boarding houses.

Rooms and common rooms are cleaned weekly

There are laundry facilities available at the residence

Washing detergent can be purchased in the laundry room or at the centre office

Bed linens are changed once per week

Bath towels are not provided

Meals are served in a large communal dining hall

Wi-Fi throughout accommodation and campus

Damage deposits of £30 or €40 are payable in cash by all students on arrival at the centre. This money will be returned at the end of their stay subject to any damages caused.

Blundell’s School offers full board accommodation, and we make sure that our students have the right nutritional balance. We provide suitable meals to help you stay healthy, focused, and energised. All our programmes include a variety of hot and cold meal items.

 

Breakfast

A range of breakfast items offered to help provide students with the energy for the day. This may be a hot breakfast or a continental one.

Whilst delivering bespoke lesson materials, the Embassy lesson is designed to engage students in discussion, to develop the key life skills of collaboration and intercultural communication, and to provide extensive opportunities to practice and build on current language.

Lessons taught by teachers trained to deliver the Embassy Lessons

17 students per class and classes suitable for students of all levels.

All learning resources provided are age appropriate and all students receive an end of course certificate of attendance.

Arrival

Students will be welcomed upon arrival at Blundell's School where they will register and can check-in to their rooms.

 

Welcome

On the first evening there will be a welcome activity which is designed to ensure students have the opportunity to meet staff and other students and get to know more about the campus, its facilities and useful information which will help them during their stay.

 

Activities

Activities are organised in between lessons and during evenings. These activities could be on-site or near to the centre. These may include:

  • Sports such as football, volleyball, basketball and table tennis
  • Daytime activities such as egg drop, arts and crafts, mini olympics
  • Evening activities such as karaoke, talent show, disco, kahoot quiz and team games

Taunton: This historic market town is nestled within Somerset, this location originates back to Saxon times and is even mentioned in the Domesday book.

Dartmoor National Park: Visit this geographical marvel, boasting breath-taking landscapes and vast wildlife diversity

Exeter: A city that came into existence before the Romans, this is one of the most vibrant cities in the South West.

Minehead: A quintessential seaside town on the borders of Exmoor National Park

Exmouth and the Jurassic Coast: Enjoy this lively Devon town and its beautiful sand beaches, all located on the historic Jurassic Coast

Wellington: This location full of charm and photogenic architecture gave its name to the famous Duke of Wellington.

Salisbury: Home to the stunning Salisbury cathedral, Salisbury has history dating back to the bronze age. Enjoy the atmosphere of this traditional British cathedral city.

Bristol: Home to the stunning and revolutionary Clifton Suspension Bridge, this city boasts a perfect blend of independent shops, culture, and scientific innovation.

Plymouth: Visit this port city on the south Devon coastline, home to the biggest navy base in operation within Western Europe, and explore the largest aquarium in the UK

Stonehenge: View the world famous neolithic structures which have fascinated both academics and the general population since its presence was established.

Bath: A traditional and charming city, Bath is teeming with elegant Georgian architecture and rich history. Experience the world-famous Roman Baths and enjoy the array of independent shops.

Longleat Safari Park: Famous across the country for offering immersive experiences and education in different species, Longleat was the first safari park to open in the UK and is still considered the top destination of its kind.

Dunster Castle: A pinnacle of the history Somerset has to offer, Dunster castle offers over a thousand years of history to explore. Be transported back to the middle ages, and visit the traditional water mill within its grounds.
