Embassy Summer at Tufts University, Boston

The campus has fantastic facilities including a modern sports hall, indoor swimming pool and running track with a recreational field and outdoor space as well as spacious residence halls. It’s surrounded by beautiful New England villages and countryside, dramatic coastlines, popular beaches and the attractions of Boston is within easy reach. Each day is filled with great lessons and lots of exciting activities, without accommodation.

Meals served in a large self-service canteen in Dewick-McPhie Dining Hall.

- 20 x 45 minute lessons per week each morning
- Placement test on day 1 to ensure students in appropriate level

- Curriculum with emphasis on communication skills

Arrival

Students will be welcomed upon arrival at Harleston Hall where they will register.

Welcome

On the first day there will be a welcome activity which is designed to ensure students have the opportunity to meet staff and other students and get to know more about the campus, its facilities and useful informationwhich will help them during their days.

Activities

Activities are organised in between lessons and during evenings. These activities could be onsite or near to the centre. These may include:

Sports such as football, mini Olympics, rounders, table tennis, volleyball and basketball
Drama and performance activities such as scavenger hunts and drama workshops
Evening activities such as karaoke, talent show, and team games

Excursions and Trips

Our students get to explore exciting places in and around Boston such as: Harvard University, MIT University, the New England Aquarium and Massachusetts State House.

Charles River Walk: A fantastic view of the Boston skyline from the Charles River, with a visit to the Museum of Science

Faneuil Hall & Quincy Market: Students go shopping at this historic market place including a visit to downtown crossing and Chinatown.

Old and New Boston: A visit to the USS Constitution Ship and the Institute of Contemporary Art.

New York City: Known as the Big Apple, students can explore its iconic sights

Six Flags New England: Students get to hang out at this cool theme park with worldclass roller coasters and over 100 rides.

3 Week Sample Programmes

All Day Programmes start on a Monday and vary in length dependent on the centre. Some includes the full 7 days of the week, others 6 days (excluding Sundays) and the Malta programme for Juniors (8-13) include 5 days. Students will take part of lessons, have lunch at the centre and go on activities and excursions with the rest of the students. Below is a sample of the full summer programme.

Students will need to purchase a Charlie Card for $22.50 which will cover all transportation and excursions for the week.

Student Welfare

We place the highest priority on care and supervision at all of our Embassy Summer centres so you can rest assured students are well looked after. Members of staff are available 24 hours a day.

Student Services

Our student support staff can help you with:

- Accommodation
- Airport transfers
- Information about local services
- Assistance with individual and personal problems
- Emergency contact

Medical information

If a student needs medical attention an Embassy staff member will help make an appointment. Group leaders must accompany the student to an appointment. An Embassy staff member will accompany any student that is not part of a group. All costs have to be paid by the student. Students must have written consent from their parent or guardian for any medical treatment to be administered.
