Learn about our Life Skills
Every step of the student journey is an essential element in developing their life skills. It starts right at the beginning when students leave their parents to study abroad and continues through to the end of their course. Once they arrive, the students begin meeting each other and soon begin making friends from all over the world. They try out new activities and take part in engaging English lessons.
They will be challenged to be responsible and independent in a supportive environment and be part of the global community created in each of the Embassy Summer centres. This environment creates the perfect conditions for our students to develop 6 essential life skills – confidence, communication, problem-solving, teamwork, exploration and creativity. These skills which will continue to benefit them as students and throughout their future to adulthood.
Our Activities & Excursions are also designed to support the development of these skills. From taking lead on a team project that builds confidence, to creating a piece of work to document a project in the local area – there are lots of opportunities for our students to develop their Life Skills.
Build self-confidence and self-esteem by breaking out of your comfort zone.
This life skill summarises a lot of what we do at Embassy Summer and it's a meaningful part of our mission. It starts right at the beginning when students leave their parents to travel abroad, by the end of the summer, our goal is for them to be more confident and, independent individuals.
A key building block to success in life is the ability to communicate effectively – listening as well as speaking.
This is the Life Skill that most students develop after a summer with Embassy Summer. By communicating and learning a new language in the classroom, but also by interacting with students of different cultures and taking part in activities and excursions.
Collaborate with others through exchanging ideas and ultimately achieving common goals in a supportive manner.
Our students get to practise teamwork in the classroom by working on different projects together and during activities where collaboration is key, such as Murder Mystery and Kahoot Quiz.
See the world through a different lens by discovering other places, cultures and ideas.
Not only do our students get to explore amazing places and cities in the UK and Nort America, but they also get the opportunity to get to know the local culture. Our fantastic nationality mix amongst our students opens up the possibility to explore and learn even more about other cultures.
Improve logical and creative thinking in order to find solutions to simple or complex problems.
Our wide range of activities and excursions often include a problem-solving element that pushes students to think outside the box and find solutions. Our centre staff always encourages students to take responsibility and think independently in case a problem comes up, which supports their personal development.
Develop originality and freedom of expression through both mental and physical activities.
Creativity comes in many different forms and in our centres, students get to practice this in both art and crafts lessons, creating fashion out of trash in our popular 'trashion shows' and in various activities such as dance and theatre.
