Our Sheffield summer school offers students the opportunity to explore the North of England with its great cities and countryside.
Sheffield is one of the ‘greenest’ cities in Europe, with over 2 million trees and over 200 parks, woods and gardens to explore, it also lies on the edge of England's first National Park, the Peak District.
Sheffield University has great facilities and accommodation and a stylish modern design which makes this a very comfortable and enjoyable centre to stay at.
Accommodation
Embassy summer students are accommodated in the stylish and modern Ranmoor Student Village area, in comfortable apartment flats.
Each student has a single bedroom, with a private en suite bathroom and toilet. Bedrooms are arranged into apartments of 6-10 bedrooms, sharing a kitchen and lounge area.
Security: There is 24 hour security on site with a university team patrolling the grounds.
Facilities
- Classrooms: Lessons will take pace in classrooms in Ranmoor Village as well as classrooms in nearby Endcliffe Student Village.
- Sports facilities: Situated in a local school a short ten minute walk from the accommodation.
- Dining Hall: All meals are served at "The Ridge" a newly built venue with modern design.
- Common room: Kitchens within flats can be used as common rooms, and the dining hall in The Ridge will be used as the main evening event venue.
- Launderette: There is a coin-operated launderette on site.
- Shops: There are local shops in Broomhill, a short ten minute walk from Ranmoor Village.

Included in the course price:
One full-day and 2 half-day excursions each week.
- One full-day excursion by coach, at the weekend outside of Sheffield.
- One half-day excursion, during the week outside of Sheffield.
- One half day excursion into the city of Sheffield by public transport.

- Local visits: Meadowhall shopping trip, Chatsworth House and Buxton.
- Manchester: Visit this exciting, vibrant, northern city.
- York: Shop in Medieval streets, see one of the largest stained glass windows at York Mister, learn about the city's Viking history of Jorvik Museum and visit the well-preserved castle.
- Nottingham: Famous for the legend of Robin Hood, Nottingham is a thriving city with many great sites and shops to enjoy.
- Chester: An historic city with attractive black and white English buildings.

- Magna Science Centre, Sheffield: Explore science through the Earth, Water, Wind and Fire Zones at this award-winning science centre.
- Old Trafford Stadium Tour: Home of Manchester United, arguably England's most famous football club.
- Alton Towers: Currently the most visited theme park in the UK with 33 thrilling rides to choose from.
- Birmingham: The UK's second biggest city has all the great retail attractions you could dream of.
- Liverpool: Famous for the Beatles and once the World's busiest port – today Liverpool has many great historical sites to explore.
