Our Bedford summer school is located on Polhill Campus (University of Bedfordshire). In recent years the campus has undergone a multi-million pound renovation to include new sports facilities, a dance studio and hall of residence.

The centre is close to countryside, whilst the town centre of Bedford is also just a short distance away.

Accommodation

There are 4 modern on-site halls of residence and 2 room options.

Students can choose from:

  • Single bedroom with private en-suite bathrooms
  • Standard single rooms with shared bathroom facilities (usually 1 bathroom per 5 students)

Facilities

  • Sports facilities: On-site sports fields, two sports halls and a dance studio
  • Common areas: Coffee bar is available during the summer, as well as a TV room for most evenings and a lecture hall for film nights
  • Dining Hall: Self-service hot and cold meals in a well-equipped, modern food hall
  • Swimming Pool: Swimming can be offered as an optional off site activity in the local pool, 15 minutes walk away
  • Email: A computer room is available at certain times of the week.

  • Sports: Football, Mini-Olympics, Rounders, Baseball, Volleyball, Aerobics, Cricket
  • Non-sports: Performing Arts/Drama, visits to Priory Marina and Bedford Park

Evening activities

  • Disco, Karaoke, Quiz, Fashion show, Blind Date, Egg drop!

Excursions**

Included in the course price:

  • One full-day and one half-day trip each week
  • An additional half-day by foot into Bedford Town also included

Examples of typical included excursions:

  • London: The UK capital offers an unrivalled choice of shopping, world-class galleries, museums and so much more.
  • Stratford-Upon-Avon: Famous as the birthplace of playwright William Shakespeare, visit historic English buildings dating back centuries.
  • Cambridge: The historic city centre, with its narrow streets and shops can all be enjoyed on foot.
  • Verulamium Museum, St Albans: The site of a once great Roman city, Verulamium offers archaeological exhibits, recreated Roman rooms and an interactive learning experience.

Examples of typical optional excursions:

  • Cadbury World: Visit the factory of one of the World's favourite chocolate brands.
  • Thorpe Park: A leading theme park offering over thirty extreme rides and attractions.
  • Woburn Safari Park: A fantastic day out for animal lovers, get up close to large mammals such as giraffes, rhino, lions and zebra.
