All Embassy summer schools offer an exciting programme of activities, which take place throughout the day and in the evenings. We make sure that, during their stay, students get the chance to see as many different places as possible.
Every week there is one full-day excursion, and two or more half-day trips, including outings to museums, theatre, and other cultural destinations, as well as the opportunity to shop and go sight-seeing, or to enjoy areas of natural beauty.
Travel and entrance fees for the organised trips are included in the price of the course.
In addition to our included activities and trips programme, we offer students the chance to go on further optional excursions and enjoy other activities at an extra charge.
The full day excursion is usually on a Saturday. This is the main trip of the week, and a great opportunity to practise English.
Students are prepared in advance of each excursion. They receive information about the places to be visited in class, so that they are better able to understand and get even more enjoyment out of each trip.
For more details of the excursions, see the information page for each centre.
Daytime activities will happen in the sessions before or after the English lessons. There's a huge variety of activities, which includes a wide range of sports – such as football, swimming, basketball and badminton – and fun activities such as arts and crafts, workshops, quizzes, performance, outdoor games, treasure hunts and much more.
Each week all lessons and activities will explore a particular theme – such as "Harry Potter", "The British Isles" or "The Wild West" and more – giving you the opportunity to practise your English vocabulary and to learn about new and exciting topics.
Nearly all our centres run an "Activity Club", an area where students can relax if they choose not to take part in the organised activities. There are board-games, playing cards, a TV if available, and the Activities Club is supervised by an Embassy member of staff.
The Activity Club activities will vary from centre to centre depending on the facilities available.
In the evening, you’ll be able to enjoy a huge variety of entertainment, such as musical extravaganzas, talent and fashion shows, discos, games and international food evenings.
There is usually a main event (such as karaoke) and another option (such as sport or a video) for students who do not wish to take part.
Our homestay programmes differ slightly from the residential programmes. In the UK, students who are staying with a host family are welcome to attend a minimum of three Embassy evening activities. In Canada, students will spend all evenings with their host families. (Homestay is not offered in the USA).
